John Horne (PhD) is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences at Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia. He is a consulting health economist and hospital administrator, the former Chief Operating Officer at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre (and a former member of its Board of Directors), and a former Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Medicine, with a 31-year academic history in the faculty. He has published widely; has served on various provincial and national Boards and Committees of health organizations and agencies; has been a founding and general member of various national advisory bodies; and was a founding co-editor (2005 to 2010) of Healthcare Policy, a Canadian journal aiming to bridge the academic and decision-making communities. He is a Director and Treasurer of the Canadian Association for Health Services and Policy Research and a member of the Editorial Advisory Committee of the Community for Excellence in Health Governance.
