CADTH Presents a Summary of the Findings of Its Report on Computed Tomographic Colonography
May 06, 2009
Techniques for colorectal cancer screening aim to improve the detection of precursor polyps to provide a platform for colorectal cancer prevention. The introduction of computed tomographic colonography as a screening strategy required an objective review of the clinical utility and resource implications for colorectal cancer screening programs. CADTH’s federal, provincial, and territorial representatives as well as members of the Devices and Systems Advisory Committee prioritized this topic for assessment. The teleconference summarized the findings of CADTH’s Health Technology Assessment report, Computed Tomographic Colonography for Colorectal Cancer Screening in an Average Risk Screening Population: Systematic Review and Economic Evaluation (published on December 18, 2008), which outlined considerations for the Canadian publicly funded health care system and provided opportunity for a question-and-answer session. Please note the teleconference is available only in English.
