CADTH CEO Elected to the Boards of Two International HTA Organizations

OTTAWA – The Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) is pleased to announce that Dr. Jill M. Sanders, CADTH’s President and Chief Executive Officer, was recently elected to the Board of Directors of two renowned international Health Technology Assessment organizations.

Effective June 22, 2009, Dr. Sanders was elected as Vice-President of the Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi) board for a two-year term. HTAi is an international society for the promotion of health technology assessment. In accordance with the HTAi constitution, Dr. Sanders is positioned to become the organization’s President in 2011.

Effective June 23, Dr. Sanders was also elected as Chair of the International Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessment (INAHTA) for a two-year term. A non-profit organization, INAHTA provides a forum for health technology assessment agencies around the world to identify and pursue common interests. INAHTA has 50 member agencies from approximately 25 countries.

CADTH is a national body that provides Canada’s federal, provincial, and territorial health care decision makers with credible, impartial advice and evidence-based information about the effectiveness and efficiency of drugs and other health technologies. CADTH is governed by a 13-member jurisdictional Board of Directors that reports to the Conference of Federal/Provincial/Territorial Deputy Ministers of Health.
