CADTH — The Next Chapter: Organizational Changes

The following organizational changes and staff appointments have been made to reflect our CADTH – The Next Chapter initiatives. These enhancements underscore the Agency’s commitment to providing “value for money” in supporting patient outcomes and the sustainability of Canada’s health care system. Moving forward into CADTH’s third decade as a continuous improvement organization, the changes optimize the alignment of our programs, products and services to meet and exceed the needs of our customers.

1. Creation of a Products and Services Directorate.

Barb Shea has been appointed Vice President, Products and Services, with direct oversight of CADTH’s drug formulary recommendation service, the rapid review service, health technology assessment program, and the optimal use program. 

Reporting to Barb Shea:

  • Denis Belanger assumes responsibility as Director of the rapid review service (HTIS), and the drug formulary review service (CDR).
  • Trinh Luong assumes responsibility as Director of the health technology assessment and optimal use programs (HTA and COMPUS).

2. Creation of a Program Development Directorate.

Jane Farquharson has been appointed Acting Vice President, Programs, leading the areas of environmental scanning, program development, partnerships, outreach, and impact. This also includes the liaison program and knowledge exchange functions.

Reporting to Jane Farquharson:

  • Sandy Pagotto assumes responsibility as Director of Environmental Scanning and Program Development. This is a new position that will enable a renewed focus on environmental scanning, and brings together all of the intake and prioritization processes at CADTH into a single integrated topic selection and refinement system.
  • Bill Leslie assumes responsibility as Director, Impact, Outreach and Partnerships. This will allow central management of all partnerships and permit a renewed approach to supporting knowledge exchange, implementation support and promoting the impact of CADTH products and services in direct support of customer needs.
  • Don Husereau directly supports the VP Programs as a Special Advisor on enhancing collaborations with members of The Exchange, as well as professional societies and associations. Don will also support the Chief Scientist as a clinical and process advisor and participate in the development of the CADTH product portfolio. 

Other appointments:

Dr. Tammy Clifford has been appointed as CADTH’s Chief Scientist. Her responsibilities include harmonizing the methods and processes employed within CADTH related to conducting assessments on drugs and other health technologies, assuring the quality of CADTH products and services, and providing oversight to the education and training of CADTH research staff.

Glenna Benson remains in her current position as Vice President, Corporate Services.

Lynda Jobin has been appointed as Director, Governance, Planning and Evaluation.

All assignments are effective immediately.
