Call for Input on Blood Glucose Test Strip Project

The Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH), through its Canadian Optimal Medication Prescribing and Utilization Service (COMPUS), has begun work on the Blood Glucose Test Strip Project.  The aim of this project is to identify clinical and economic evidence relating to the prescribing and use of self-monitoring of blood glucose. Such evidence may assist policy makers and health care providers in making informed decisions on the optimal prescribing and use of blood glucose test strips in patients with type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes mellitus.

As an initial step in the process of identifying optimal prescribing and use for blood glucose test strips, COMPUS has conducted a systematic review of the literature to identify studies for inclusion in the analysis of clinical data.  The result of that review, in the form of three lists of studies, is posted on the COMPUS consultations page on the CADTH web site.  CADTH invites stakeholders to review these lists and to provide information on studies that are not currently included.

Please forward information on additional randomized controlled trials (RCTs) by June 13, 2008 to compusfeedback@cadth.ca.
