CADTH Releases Two New Reports on Blood Glucose Test Strips

The Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) has released the following two Optimal Therapy Reports from its blood glucose test strips topic:

CADTH thanks all stakeholders who provided comments during the feedback period for these documents. The final reports provide the detailed clinical and economic evidence used in the development of CADTH’s Optimal Therapy Recommendations for the Prescribing and Use of Blood Glucose Test Strips.

Invitation to Provide Additional Studies for the Type 2 Diabetes Topic

CADTH is currently working to identify optimal second-line therapies for patients with type 2 diabetes after the failure of metformin monotherapy.

A list of randomized controlled trials that will be included in the systematic review for this project is now available online. The list does not include conference abstracts that are not indexed in databases such as MEDLINE, PubMed, or EMBASE. These databases were searched separately, and the selection process is ongoing.

CADTH invites all interested parties to suggest additional studies evaluating the efficacy and safety of second-line therapies for patients with type 2 diabetes after metformin monotherapy has failed that have not been included in our list. Please forward your suggestions to compusfeedback@cadth.ca by Thursday, June 18, 2009.

Visit the CADTH website for more information about the type 2 diabetes topic.
