Call for Input: Draft Recommendations on Blood Glucose Test Strips

The Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH), through its Canadian Optimal Medication Prescribing and Utilization Service (COMPUS), invites all interested parties to provide feedback and comments on its Draft Optimal Therapy Recommendations for the Prescribing and Use of Blood Glucose Test Strips report — the latest report from the Diabetes Management priority area.

The goal of this report is to provide recommendations for the optimal prescribing and use of blood glucose test strips in the self-monitoring of blood glucose for health care professionals, patients, and decision makers. CADTH recognizes that stakeholder input is an important part of the COMPUS process. Your input will assist in making final recommendations toward the optimal prescribing and use of blood glucose test strips.

To provide your input, please log in here to access step-by-step instructions and the online feedback forms. The deadline to provide feedback is Friday, May 21, 2009.

CADTH Announces Update to Rx for Change Interventions Database

CADTH, in collaboration with the Cochrane Effective Practice and Organisation of Care Group (EPOC) and the Cochrane Consumers and Communication Review Group, is pleased to announce an update of our Rx for Change interventions database. The database was initially published online in April 2007, including reviews up to March 2006. The update includes reviews from April 2006 to May 2008.

Rx for Change is a first-in-class tool promoting optimal drug therapy. It is a publicly accessible database for health care policy makers, researchers, and health care professionals. The database provides easy access to current research evidence about the effectiveness of strategies and programs designed to improve drug prescribing and use.

There is much research offering new approaches on the clinical aspects of useful and efficient patient care, but changing clinical practice is often based on beliefs rather than on scientific evidence. Rx for Change provides decision makers with reliable, up-to-date, evidence-based information to assist in the selection of behaviour-change strategies that promote the optimal use of medicines.

The Rx for Change database will be updated twice per year.

Access Rx for Change directly at www.rxforchange.ca.

The Cochrane Library

All Canadians have the inherent right to reliable information regarding health care and treatments. The Canadian Cochrane Network and Centre is pleased to announce that all Canadians with access to a computer are now able to view the full content of The Cochrane Library. This virtual library is an online resource that provides evaluations of health treatments. The Cochrane Library is the main product of The Cochrane Collaboration, a not-for-profit organization that supports informed health care decisions.

CADTH Employment Opportunities

CADTH is seeking candidates for a variety of positions that are posted on the Careers page.
