CADTH is seeking one ethicist member and one economist member to serve on its Health Technology Expert Review Panel (HTERP). HTERP is an advisory body that develops guidance and recommendations for CADTH projects related to health technologies, including medical devices, diagnostic tests, and clinical interventions. It provides guidance that considers the outputs and impact of CADTH’s work in meeting the needs of federal, provincial, and territorial governments, and those working in the Canadian health care system.

If you have significant expertise in the Canadian health care system, are interested in helping support health care decision-makers in making informed choices about health technologies, and are passionate about ensuring that the Canadian health care system is the best it can be, we encourage you to apply.

The following information may help when considering whether to let your name stand for nomination to HTERP.

Qualifications and Eligibility

The HTERP ethicist member must have experience with Canadian health care policy and decision-making and/or committee deliberation, and hold a degree in bioethics, moral philosophy, or a related health ethics discipline from a recognized institution.

The HTERP economist member must have an understanding of the procurement and use of health technologies within the Canadian context and hold a degree in health economics from a recognized institution.

Nominees must have current experience working in the Canadian health care system and experience with issues related to the delivery of health care services; knowledge of regional, provincial, territorial, and/or international health care issues; knowledge of, or interest in, issues relevant to CADTH’s mandate and the mandate of the committee; and experience in committee and/or community work.

More details are available in the HTERP member role description document.

Time Commitment

Each calendar year, HTERP holds at least four scheduled, in-person meetings that are usually in Ottawa. Virtual meetings are at times held during the remaining months, as needed. Please note that all meetings are currently being held by videoconference until further notice.

HTERP members may be eligible to receive an honorarium in accordance with CADTH policy. For more information, see HTERP member role description. Expenses are reimbursed in accordance with CADTH policy.

HTERP members are appointed for a term of 3 years. Terms may be renewed once at the discretion of CADTH’s President and CEO.
