CADTH

CADTH is a national body that provides Canada’s federal, provincial and territorial health care decision makers with credible, impartial advice and evidence-based information about the effectiveness and efficiency of drugs and other health technologies. Established in 1989 as the Canadian Coordinating Office for Health Technology Assessment, CADTH supports informed decisions through three core programs. It provides: clinical and cost- effectiveness reviews of drugs and formulary listing recommendations (through the Common Drug Review Program – CDR); health technology assessments of drugs, medical technologies and health care systems (through the Health Technology Assessment Program – HTA); and information about optimal drug therapy in Canada (through the Canadian Optimal Medication Prescribing and Utilization Service – COMPUS).

CADTH offers three distinct HTA services: health technology reports, horizon scanning, and a Health Technology Inquiry Service (HTIS). These services provide a diverse range of products to meet stakeholder needs, including comprehensive HTA reports, bulletins and briefs on new and emerging technologies, and tailored responses and reports to questions about health technologies. CADTH has also helped develop and strengthen Canadian capacity for undertaking and applying HTA through its Capacity Building Grants Program.
