2017 Call for Nominations: CADTH pCODR Expert Review Committee

CADTH is seeking nominations for two oncologists, one “non-oncology” physician, one pharmacist, one health economist, and one patient member for its CADTH pan-Canadian Oncology Drug Review (pCODR) Expert Review Committee (pERC). At least one of these members should also have expertise in health ethics.

The role of pERC is to assess the clinical, economic, and patient evidence for cancer drugs in order to make non-binding recommendations to the publicly funded drug plans and cancer agencies in Canada (except Quebec) to guide their drug-funding decisions.

The following information may help when considering whether to let your name stand as a nominee to pERC.

Qualifications and Eligibility

Expert Member

Expert members must hold a professional degree from a recognized institution in medicine, pharmacy, pharmacology, or health economics, and have knowledge of, experience with, and an understanding of issues related to cancer and its management (diagnosis, treatment, and care).

Patient Member

pERC is looking for a patient member who has personal experience with the treatment and care of cancer, or is a family member of a cancer patient, and who has developed a deep understanding of the treatment and care of cancer.

The successful candidate will have personal knowledge of, experience with, and an understanding of issues related to cancer and its management (diagnosis, treatment, and care).  They will also have a demonstrated understanding and appreciation of patient needs and priorities, and an overall understanding of other patient issues and health care concerns that may impact cancer patient communities. No person currently employed by any pharmaceutical or related company will be considered.

Time Commitment

Nominees should be aware there is a time commitment of up to two days per month. This includes preparing for and participating in monthly pERC meetings, which are held in person each month in Toronto.

Patient members of pERC may also be asked to participate in up to two public (stakeholder) meetings annually.

Members of pERC may receive an honorarium in accordance with CADTH policy. Expenses are reimbursed in accordance with CADTH policy.

Term of Appointment

Expert members of pERC are appointed for a term of two or three years. Patient members are appointed for a term of three years. Terms may be renewed once, at the discretion of CADTH’s President and CEO.

Nomination Process

Nominations must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. EDT, Thursday, May 11, 2017.

All nominees will receive a confirmation email when we have received their submission. While CADTH thanks all nominees for their interest, only those under further consideration in the process will be contacted personally. All nominees will be notified by email once the process concludes, which is expected to be no later than July 31, 2017.
