CADTH is creating a new Patient and Community Advisory Committee to support a greater diversity of perspectives in our organizational governance.
CADTH is an independent, not-for-profit organization responsible for providing Canada’s health care decision-makers with objective evidence to help make informed decisions about the optimal use of drugs and medical devices in our health care system. Patient groups, patients, and their families already contribute to CADTH, including to our CADTH Common Drug Review and CADTH pan-Canadian Oncology Drug Review programs, health technology assessments, and Scientific Advice. As our recommendations and advice on publicly funded drugs, tests, devices, and procedures impact Canadian patients, we want patients and the public to be more involved in our work and in how we do our work.
Are you someone with extensive experience as a patient or family caregiver? We are seeking 12 members for an advisory committee to provide us with advice on issues relevant to our mandate from the perspectives of those using the Canadian health care system.
Are you interested in how drugs, tests, devices, and medical procedures are publicly funded? Can you turn your experiences of our health care system into insights that decision-makers across the country can use to make wise and equitable decisions on health technologies? Do you support the empowerment of patients in health care decision-making? If so, consider applying.
The expected commitment will be six (6) to eight (8) hours every three months for two or three years. Meetings will be held in English and materials will be provided in English. Members will be remunerated for their involvement.
We’re especially interested in hearing from those with lived experiences of addiction, those living with mental health problems and mental illnesses, those receiving home and community care, individuals living outside city centres, and from individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.
