This Horizon Scan summarizes available information regarding emerging drug therapies for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a progressive and fatal neurogenerative disease characterized by muscle weakness and wasting. The scan primarily focuses on emerging drugs that have completed phase II of their clinical development: fasudil, ibudilast, inosine, and masitinib. The combination of sodium phenylbutyrate and taurursodiol has reached advanced clinical development; however, it is not discussed in this scan as it is currently under review at CADTH.
