CADTH Webinar - Global Collaborations to Optimize the Use of Real-World Evidence in Decision-Making

Event date: Thursday, October 20, 2022
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EST

Real-world evidence (RWE) is evidence about the use, safety, and effectiveness of a medical product, technology, or drug that is based on data from the real-world health care setting. Optimizing the use of RWE in decision-making depends heavily on multistakeholder dialogue, access to good quality data, generating and reporting on “fit-for-purpose” real-world evidence, and cross-sector collaboration.

CADTH is actively engaged in shaping the discussion on RWE in Canada and supporting the development of a pan-Canadian framework for the use of RWE in regulatory and reimbursement decision-making.

In this special panel discussion for the World Evidence-Based Healthcare Day Campaign, CADTH will bring together global RWE leaders to talk about areas of collaboration, opportunities to leverage, and challenges to address.

Moderator: Nicole Mittmann, Chief Scientist and Vice-President, Evidence Standards, CADTH

Panellists:

  • Meindert Boysen, Director for the technology appraisal and the highly specialized technologies programs, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE)
  • Ashley Jaksa, Market Access Scientific Strategy Lead, Aetion, Inc.

About World Evidence-Based Healthcare Day

World Evidence-Based Healthcare (EBHC) Day is held on October 20 each year. It is a global initiative that raises awareness of the need for better evidence to inform health care policy, practice, and decision-making to improve health outcomes globally. It is an opportunity to participate in debate about global trends and challenges, but also to celebrate the impact of individuals and organizations worldwide, recognizing the work of dedicated researchers, policy-makers, and health professionals in improving health outcomes. This year’s theme focuses on partnerships for purpose and how partnerships help realize the potential of evidence-based health care.
