CADTH Appoints Director, Rapid Response

CADTH is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Kamel as the Director of Rapid Response, effective January 30, 2017.

Reporting to Tammy Clifford, Vice-President of Medical Devices and Rapid Response Programs, Chris is responsible for leading a staff of clinical researchers and research assistants, and ensuring the delivery of a range of reports in line with CADTH’s methods and standards.

Chris joined CADTH in 2011 as a Clinical Research Officer and was soon promoted to Clinical Research Manager to lead the Rapid Response Service. In addition to leading a program that delivers more than 300 reports annually, Chris is also a co-convenor of the Cochrane Rapid Review Methods Group and has been a participant in the McMaster Health Forum on the development of a rapid response program. Chris holds a BSc in biochemistry from Queen’s University and an MSc in biochemistry from the University of Ottawa.

Over the course of the past 10 years, the Rapid Response Service has become one of CADTH’s signature programs and a trusted resource for health care decision-makers across Canada.

The program offers a range of products that help support pressing policy and practice decisions. Rapid Response reports can range from a list of relevant scientific articles to more extensive reports that include appraisals of the evidence and peer review. Approximately 70 per cent of Rapid Response reports focus on medical devices, diagnostics, and procedures.
