CADTH Lecture — An Introduction to Health Economics

CADTH is pleased to host the second CADTH Lecture of the season, An Introduction to Health Economics, intended for policy-makers, patients, clinicians, and others who want to understand the basics of health economics and its relevance to health care decision-making.

During this lecture, Scott Klarenbach, MD, will present a high-level overview of health economics. Using clear examples, he will highlight why health economics is different from traditional economics, explain how health economics is used in health care decision-making, and introduce important health economic concepts such as cost-effectiveness, opportunity costs, and quality-adjusted life-years.
