Health Economics Update and Call for Feedback on Costing Document

Health Economics Update

CADTH is currently in the process of updating two important documents on the topic of health economics:

  • Guidance Document for the Costing Process
  • Guidelines for the Economic Evaluation of Health Technologies: Canada, Third Edition

These documents are used by researchers across Canada who undertake economic evaluations, which are critical to our understanding of the health care setting in Canada and for making informed decisions about health technologies.

Call for Feedback on the Guidance Document for the Costing of Health Care Resources in the Canadian Setting

Feedback from stakeholders is an integral part of our process and will help inform the updated documents.

At this time, we’d like to let all stakeholders know that a draft of the updated costing document, now titled Guidance Document for Costing of Health Care Resources in the Canadian Setting, is posted on the CADTH website for stakeholder feedback. The consultation period is open for 10 business days and all the details are posted here.

Status of the Update to the Guidelines for the Economic Evaluation of Health Technologies

We have kicked off this update to the Guidelines and, with input from users, have identified gaps and sections in the third edition that need to be updated. A special information session was held during the 2015 CADTH Symposium to share details on the process.

At this time, work is ongoing and no recommendations or new guidance have been finalized. Be sure to subscribe to the CADTH E-Alert or Health Economics Update to receive project updates. We anticipate posting a draft of the updated Guidelines for stakeholder feedback in Spring 2016.
