Health Economics Update — New Guidance on Reporting Indirect Comparisons

Today CADTH posted our Guidance Document on Reporting Indirect Comparisons

Indirect comparison methodology allows for the comparison of treatments that have not been directly compared in head-to-head trials. Indirect comparisons are increasingly common, but reporting often lacks an adequate description of the methodology used.

This CADTH guidance document aims to address this issue by providing a standard reporting structure for indirect comparisons to establish greater transparency. With transparent reporting, the rigour of the approach and results of the analysis can be assessed.

It is important to note that the report is not a methodological “how to” document. It is limited to providing guidance on reporting methods and results of indirect comparisons. For guidance on indirect comparison methodology, please see the references cited in the document.

CADTH would like to thank the Working Group on Technical and Scientific Issues for providing comments and feedback on this guidance document. The Working Group is part of the Pharmaceutical Industry Liaison Forum, a vehicle for information-sharing between CADTH and associations that represent pharmaceutical industry stakeholders.
