A National Review of Pan-Canadian Health Organizations

On October 3, 2017, the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Federal Minister of Health, announced a national external review of eight federally funded pan-Canadian health organizations (PCHOs), including CADTH. Dr. Danielle Martin and Dr. Pierre-Gerlier Forest have been appointed to co-lead the review.

The review will be a time-limited and forward-looking exercise, designed to provide the Minister of Health with advice and recommendations on ways to strengthen the reach and impact of these pan-Canadian organizations, which play an important role in improving health care in Canada. A summary of the recommendations is expected to be published in the spring of 2018.

CADTH welcomes the opportunity to participate in the review and demonstrate the pivotal role we play in improving the accessibility, affordability, and appropriate use of drugs, diagnostic tests, and medical, dental, and surgical devices and procedures across Canada.

Opportunity for Your Input

As part of their review, Dr. Forest and Dr. Martin want to hear from individuals and organizations about their experiences and interactions with the PCHOs and have asked us to serve as a conduit to the diverse network of stakeholders that we collaborate with and/or serve. To provide your input on the issues under review, visit the Health Canada website to access the Guidelines and Questions for Stakeholders. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 EST, Friday, November 24, 2017.
