Roundup Delivers the Latest Information on Emerging Health Technologies to Watch

CADTH’s latest report — Horizon Scan Roundup — gives health care decision-makers a snapshot of emerging health technologies to pay close attention to in the coming year.

The pipeline is full of new drugs and medical devices coming to market. Many have the potential to reshape how we deliver health care, but decision-makers need help staying up to date and identifying the innovations that could deliver value to patients and the health system.

That’s where the Roundup comes in: It’s a publication that quickly summarizes 130 reports on health innovations from around the world from sources that include respected international horizon scanning services and select health organizations. This issue of the Roundup examines medical devices, laboratory tests, biomarkers, programs, and procedures, and we’ve categorized the technologies by medical specialty for easy browsing.

The Roundup is just one publication produced through our Horizon Scanning program — which identifies and monitors emerging health technologies that are not yet widely used but are likely to have a significant impact on health care in Canada. We also produce more detailed publications that summarize key information about a specific health technology, including the available evidence on effectiveness and safety, regulatory status, potential costs, and implementation issues.
