Concurrent Session A7 — Panel Discussion

Presenters: Dianne Carmichael, Carmichael Worldwide / Council of Canadian Innovators; Marc Fiume, DNAstack; Graeme Moffat, InteraXon; and Mike Monteith, ThoughtWire

Artificial intelligence (AI) and big data are transformative opportunities to both advance Canada’s prosperity and drive better health outcomes in our country. This panel will discuss the need for a made-for-Canada AI cluster strategy for health care and how this strategy can drive innovation outcomes for our economy.  The panel will address the following questions:

  • Why is AI so critical to Canadian high-growth health-technology companies?
  • What are the strategies that policy-makers need to consider when crafting AI cluster strategies? (Application rather than operating system? Focus on fast-growing scale-ups?)
  • What will high-growth health-technology CEOs need in a one- to three-year window to continue on their upward climb while incorporating AI into their scaling-up strategies?
