Do you know someone who has been a leader and champion of health technology assessment (HTA) for many years? Or perhaps a rising star with the potential to significantly advance this field of research? Or someone whose commitment and hard work have helped develop, support, and expand the use of HTA in Canada?

Nominations are now being accepted for 4 prestigious awards that recognize outstanding achievement and ongoing effort in the field of HTA in Canada. These awards are a wonderful opportunity to promote the importance of HTA in Canada and recognize those who are helping to improve our health care system by making evidence a cornerstone of health technology decisions.

The Dr. Jill M. Sanders Award of Excellence in Health Technology Assessment

This award is named in honour of Dr. Jill M. Sanders, who was the President and CEO of CADTH from 1987 to 2010. Dr. Sanders passed away in February 2010 following a battle with cancer. Eligible contributions include, but are not limited to, improving the science and methodology of HTA and related fields, producing a significant body of evidence-based analysis and advice that has contributed to the quality and sustainability of Canada’s health system and the health of people living in Canada, and/or championing the uptake and use of evidence-based information about health technologies in policy and administrative and clinical decision-making.

The Dr. Maurice McGregor Award

Eligible contributions include advancing the science and methodology of HTA and related fields, making a significant contribution to an HTA report (or reports) that has contributed to the quality and sustainability of Canada’s health system and the health of people in Canada, and/or developing or supporting programs to increase the uptake and use of evidence-based information about health technologies in policy and administrative and clinical decision-making.

Anniversary Medals

Introduced in 2014 to commemorate CADTH’s 25th anniversary, and awarded every 5 years, the Anniversary Medals celebrate individuals from throughout the health care spectrum in Canada who are driving more effective, relevant, and useful HTA. Reflecting HTA’s continuing evolution beyond the traditional metrics of efficacy and cost-effectiveness, the 35th Anniversary Medals will honour individuals who are contributing to more comprehensive assessments that incorporate patient input, ethics, IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility), and other factors.
