Dr. Jill M. Sanders Award of Excellence in Health Technology Assessment

The Dr. Jill M. Sanders Award of Excellence in Health Technology Assessment recognizes and celebrates individuals whose outstanding achievements have significantly advanced the field of health technology assessment (HTA) in Canada. The award is named in honour of Dr. Jill M. Sanders, President and CEO of CADTH from 1987 to 2010. Dr. Sanders led the transformation of CADTH from a small office into an agency that has a significant and growing impact on the quality and sustainability of health care in Canada and on improved health outcomes. She passed away in February 2010 following a battle with cancer.

Eligibility

The award is open to individuals who have made a significant and lasting contribution to HTA, evidence-based drug reviews, or optimal technology management in Canada. The award can be given posthumously. Current CADTH employees are not eligible for this award. Eligible contributions include, but are not limited to:

• improving the science and methodology of HTA and related fields
• producing a significant body of evidence-based analyses and advice that has contributed to the quality and sustainability of Canada’s health system, and the health of Canadians
• championing the uptake and use of evidence-based information about health technologies in policy and administrative and clinical decision-making.
