Increasing antimicrobial resistance — including multidrug resistance — and changing resistance profiles are a concern in gonococcal infections. Rates of gonorrhea are also increasing in Canada. A review of the evidence for treatment options will help inform recommendations for gonorrhea therapy.
The objective of the systematic review is to determine the most safe and efficacious treatments for uncomplicated gonococcal infections. These include infections of the urethra, cervix, rectum, pharynx, and eye in adolescents and adults.
