Project Line:
New at CADTH
CADTH is committed to supporting Canada’s health care decision-makers through this challenging and uncertain time.

We’ve collected relevant information about COVID-19 from CADTH and other respected organizations, and published it on our CADTH COVID-19 web portal. The information on this site is being updated daily to reflect the rapidly changing and growing state of the international scientific evidence related to COVID-19.

The following is a summary of the most recent materials posted to our COVID-19 portal.

Testing for COVID-19 in Correctional Facilities: Clinical Effectiveness and Guidelines
  • We searched for evidence on the clinical effectiveness of COVID-19 testing for all new admissions to correctional facilities, as well as the clinical effectiveness of mass testing (i.e., testing everyone within the correctional facility for COVID-19).
  • We also searched for any evidence-based guidelines on these topics.
  • No relevant literature and no evidence-based guidelines were identified.
Resumption of Elective Health Services Amid COVID-19
  • CADTH has prepared a briefing note that describes the challenges health systems face in making decisions about resuming elective procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • This briefing note summarizes some recent guidance on service resumption, and discusses potential implications and long-term considerations for these choices.
Serological Tests for COVID-19
  • If accurate, antibody-based serology tests may provide information on who has COVID-19 or who has been infected.
  • Health Canada is actively assessing these tests within the expedited access process.
  • To date, the performance and role of these tests in clinical settings has not been completely demonstrated, and no serology tests have been approved in Canada.
  • Currently, evidence to confirm that individuals have immunity to COVID-19 or are protected from reinfection is lacking.
Additional Resources
  • Strategies to Optimize the Supply of PPE and Equipment (The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention)
  • CADTH is also pleased to showcase additional COVID-19 resources from our partner organizations, as well as from the Canadian federal, provincial, and territorial governments’ health jurisdictions:
    • Pan-Canadian Health Organizations
    • Federal, Provincial, and Territorial information
