CADTH Rapid Response Service Publishes 3,000th Report

Now in its 10th year, Rapid Response is CADTH’s fastest and most flexible offering.

The CADTH Rapid Response Service has a lot to celebrate: it recently published its 3,000th report.

“This milestone shows how CADTH’s experience, pan-Canadian scope, and independence make it a trusted leader in the examination and assessment of research to evaluate the impact of a health technology — be it a drug, medical device, diagnostic test, or procedure,” said Brian O’Rourke, President and Chief Executive Officer of CADTH.

“Our Rapid Response Service is one example of how CADTH is responding to the increased need for the timely provision of evidence to support decisions about health technologies,” O’Rourke added.

The CADTH Rapid Response Service offers health care decision-makers a range of products, from a list of relevant articles to more extensive reports that include interpretation and external peer review.

The service provides value to health care providers and other decision-makers with up-to-date evidence, tailored to meet their specific requirements, in as little as five to 10 business days. The Rapid Response Service also helps fill urgent jurisdictional needs for evidence that informs policy and practice decisions.

Through its 10-year history, the CADTH Rapid Response Service has provided the evidence on a range of topics from the treatment of chronic hepatitis C and hyperbaric oxygen therapy to cardiac imaging in preoperative patients. About 70% of CADTH’s Rapid Response reports focus on medical devices, diagnostics, and procedures.

“For the last 10 years, Canadian health care decision-makers have relied on CADTH to provide Rapid Reviews of various health technologies. And in the real-world health care setting, where full evidence reviews aren’t always feasible, our Rapid Response Service is in high demand,” said O’Rourke.
